US | Allowing mums in jail to hug their children

There are 200,000 women in US prisons. That’s 1/3 of the world’s incarcerated women and this number is growing faster than ever. About two in three of these women are mothers and as many as one in ten are pregnant. However in most US jails, face-to-face visits between mothers and their children are not allowed and pregnant women could be shackled during pregnancy and even childbirth. For World Hacks, documentary maker Sahar Zand has been Minnesota, where two women have set out to change the system.
