Battling Kenya's Biblical Locust Swarms

In Kenya, one of the worst locust invasions in 70 years threatens to devastate crops, livelihoods and food supplies across East Africa. For Channel 4's Unreported World, foreign affairs reporter Sahar Zand travels across Kenya with filmmaker Karim Shah, tracking enormous swarms of desert locusts as they sweep through farming communities already vulnerable to hunger and economic hardship.

Meeting those on the frontline of the crisis, Sahar investigates the devastating human cost of the infestation and the struggle to contain it. In a country where agriculture sustains much of the population, the documentary reveals how billions of insects could push already vulnerable communities towards starvation, exposing the fragility of food security in the region.
